Welcome to Eldercare Learnings

The Eldercare Learnings website is dedicated to people who are committed to providing intensive care to their aging parents.

This site has been launched to encourage the sharing of eldercare stories.  Share your stories---if you have lots of experience or if you are just getting started and feel somewhat overwhelmed.  This community needs you!

I created Eldercare Learnings so others could benefit from what I had learned as a result of an extremely intense experience of caring for my parents.  Each of my parents went quickly from being "young" vibrant 85 year olds to being critically ill for long periods.

Navigating the maze of medical care is tough.  In our case, I had to start a critical care hospital in my parents' home in order for them to survive.  At the time I had no place to go to learn what to do.

But if we share our learnings, we all will do a better job.

Check these out---

Also take a look at a couple blogs that have interesting eldercare information.  One is a blog called New Old Age by Jane Gross of the NY Times---it started in early July 2008 and has received lots of input.  My favorite blog is Dr. Bill Thomas' Changing Aging----it is worth checking out!

Thanks for joining us.  Come back often.  The Eldercare Learnings community is constantly growing.
